If you’re seeking support to help you support your loved one, or you work with disabled Indigenous clients, we have ways to help you.
We will be offering courses
- Courses for families on how to acquire communication support tools, how to get appropriate IEP support, and how to help their loved ones learn to use their communication tools.
- Courses for professionals on culturally competent and culturally responsive care.
- Courses for teachers on how to implement communication supports, particularly in immersion programs and language nests.
We will also be offering discussion forums
- Discussion areas specifically for families
- Discussion areas for communities of practice for various types of providers
- Discussion areas for the technical aspects of creating device vocabularies
We will have free resources.
- Resources will be released under a creative commons license – you will be able to use them in your programs, but not re-sell them.
- Resources will be in Lakota and/or Dakota, but can be translated into any Indigenous language.
- We will take resource requests from members
